Thomas F. Fitzpatrick, 85, of Rolling Prairie, IN., formerly of the Kankakee Area and Chicago, passed away January 24th following a short illness. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Arleen Fitzpatrick; Children, Beth (Lou) Bednarek, Brian (Sandi), Bruce (Mary), Bob, Lilli (James Rung) Fitzpatrick, and Lisa (Paul) Chidichimo; Grandfather of 12, Great-Grandfather of 10; Loving brother of Anne Marie McKearn and brother-in-law of Mildred Fitzpatrick. He was proceeded in death by his son, William (Late Patricia) Fitzpatrick, and siblings Patrick “Joe” Fitzpatrick and Theresa Thompson. He was a member of St. John Kanty Knights of Columbus Council #14240 in Rolling Prairie and the Bishop McNamara 4th Degree Assembly #202 of Kankakee. He was a funeral director and former proprietor of Fitzpatrick Funeral Directors in Kankakee, former member and Grand-Knight of St. Viator Knights of Columbus Council #745, Past Commander of Kankakee American Legion Post #85, had been a Chief Deputy for the Kankakee County Coroners Office, a 4 term 2nd Ward Alderman for the City of Kankakee, and was a Police Commissioner in Bourbonnais. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 28th at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais from 3 – 8 P.M. A wake service will be led by Fr. Richard Pighini of Maternity B.V.M Church at 3:00 P.M., a Rosary Service will be at 7:30 P.M. followed by Military Honors at 8:00 P.M.
