Gregory Moore, 75, died after a long history of medical complications on November 5, 2025 in Downers Grove Illinois (living in Aurora, Illinois). He was born in Chicago, Illinois to Marie Percy (Moore) (deceased) and Arthur Shelley (deceased). He was raised by his grandparents Roberta and Charlie Percy (both deceased) with three of his siblings in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood; Edward Moore (deceased) (Sheila), Diane M. Shelley, and Ronnie Moore. His oldest brother, John Moore (deceased) grew up outside of the household.
Gregory was baptized with his three siblings at Bethel AME Church Chicago at an early age, and attended church every Sunday, rain or shine without fail. He attended Coleman elementary school and Forestville Highschool. He was a dapper ivy league dresser. During his early adult years, he was known for his smart, and stylish appearance, and was quit the ladies’ man.
He led a simple and quiet life finding pleasure in music. He worked the day shift in the offices of Speigel and Marshall Fields, and enjoyed Chicago’s famous night life, attending great events and concerts, hanging out back stage with the artists.
Later in life he relocated to Aurora Illinois and became a deacon at New Covenant Full Gospel Church Aurora, Illinois. When his health faded, he became a resident of The Grove of Fox Valley Nursing Home where he would entertain everyone with stories of his social life.
He is survived by many friends and family, including his beloved nephew Romaine Ruchell Bostick.
Cremation has taken place and his ashes will be scattered by his family at a later date.
Please donate in his name to the Greater Chicago Food Depository to help end hunger.
