On October 31, 2024, Jeanne Marie Steinbach of Frankfort, IL was welcomed into the arms of her dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Jeanne (nee Gund, age 70) grew up in Bourbonnais, IL. She was the cherished wife of David Steinbach; beloved mother of James (Audrey) of Brighton, CO, Brian (Stacy) of Midland, MI, Andrew of Rio Rico, AZ and Daniel (Michala) of Jersey City, NJ; loving grandmother of Anastasia, Elijah, Gabriel, Emma, Oliver, Theodore, Ava, Jason, Brady, Oakley and Dominic; fond sister of Gerald (Lynne), David (Joy), Henry (Laura) and Bruce (Margene) Gund. She was preceded in death by her mother and father - Therese and Vincent Gund of Bourbonnais, IL.
Jeanne was raised in a home where regular church attendance and attention to spiritual matters played an important role in her growth. A 1972 graduate of Bishop McNamara High School in Kankakee, IL., Jeanne went on to the College of Saint Francis in Joliet, IL., where she earned a degree in mathematics and education. While in college, she was invited to a Bible Study, where she saw the scriptures opened before her. After reflection on her standing before the Lord, Jeanne accepted His free gift of salvation.
In July 1977, Jeanne married her sweetheart David, and together they raised a beautiful family. Having been raised with four brothers helped prepare Jeanne to raise her four sons. Along with her four sons, there were a number of young men who came to know her kindness and regarded her as their 'second mom' - in turn, she would call them 'My Fifth Son.' (To name just three: 'Matt' in the US Navy, 'Josh' in Michigan, and 'Tomas' in Wisconsin.)
After raising her children, Jeanne returned to the classroom to teach Math and Science at Heritage Christian School in Frankfort, IL., before retiring to care for her mother and father.
Actively supporting the local Scouting program for more than a decade and a half, Jeanne proudly watched as each of her sons earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
Jeanne was a gifted cook and canner, accomplished in sewing and quilting, and a weekend crafter. Family camping and gardening were among her favorite pastimes ... along with receiving yellow roses and eating Pixies from Fannie Mae. Above all else, her faith and her family were the centerpiece of her life.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 9, beginning at 9:30 A.M. until the time of Service at 11:30 A.M. at Jeanne's home church, Heritage Baptist Church at 21739 S LaGrange Road, Frankfort, IL, with Pastor Keith Betry officiating.
