John Michael Dorotiak, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on December 16, 2023, in Palos Heights, Illinois. He was 76 years old.

Born in Chicago, Illinois on July 16, 1947, John was a cherished son of the late Mary and Michael Dorotiak. He grew up in a loving home alongside his sister Carol Dorotiak. John's upbringing instilled values of compassion and kindness that he carried with him throughout his life.

John was known for his vibrant personality and zest for life. He approached every day with an unwavering positivity that impacted all those around him. His enthusiasm for life was contagious, and he would go out of his way to bring joy to others.

A devoted father, John was blessed with six children – Ray, Dan, Michelle, Cindy, John Jr., and Mike Dorotiak – all residing in Las Vegas Nevada. He embraced the role of fatherhood with pure dedication and love. Nothing made him happier than seeing his children grow into kind-hearted individuals who shared his love for family.

In addition to being an exceptional father, John also stepped into the role of stepfather to Kevin Smith and later became a proud stepfather to Danny and Jaclyn Smith of Worth Illinois. He welcomed them into his heart with open arms and treated them as his own. The bonds they formed were unbreakable and demonstrated John's capacity for unconditional love.

A cherished grandfather of 12 grandchildren, John took immense joy in watching them discover the world around them. He delighted in spoiling them with love and attention while imparting valuable lessons about life. His presence will forever be treasured by each grandchild.

John's compassionate nature extended beyond family; he had an extensive circle of friends who looked up to him as a role model. His warm smile and genuine interest in others made him an incredibly approachable person. He had a unique ability to make people feel seen and heard, and his friends often sought solace in his comforting presence.

Tragically, John's sudden passing came after a brief illness. The news of his departure left his loved ones devastated, as they grappled with the loss of such an exceptional individual. Although saddened by his untimely departure, they find solace in the memories they shared and the valuable life lessons he imparted.

John will always be remembered for his infectious laughter, kind heart, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His legacy is one of compassion, joy, and unyielding positivity. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the beautiful life he lived and the profound impact he had on all those fortunate enough to know him.
